It's all over the news... Durban Country Club in association with the Province of KZN will definitely be hosting the 2010 Centenary South African Golf Championship in December. The dates have been confirmed from 16 - 19 December 2010. It is a great achievement for the Club and will be a record 17th time that DCC has hosted the SA Open tournament (more than any other Club in South Africa).

Hi everyone,
Things have been so busy over the last couple of weeks, this is the first time we have had the chance to really give some good feedback with regards to the Green Replacement programme at the DCC course. Things are going very well and at present we are right on schedule. We will be starting a pictorial collage in both Pro Shops for members that are interested in monitoring progress. Also we will be arranging a course outing so that members can witness the progress of this very interesting process. We will be advertising this soon in News Now so watch this space for details.
Below are a few pictures of progress to date:

As I have mentioned in previous Newsletters, during the course closure we are having to manage our Golf Operations staff as efficiently as possible to make sure they are both able to take leave and also able to be productive when on site during this time. We have had concerns from quite a few members about the caddie complement during this period. We are trying to accommodate our caddies by rotating them between our two courses as well as getting the construction team and the course superintendent to involve them in the course revamp project. This way they will at least have the opportunity to earn some income. There is obviously not enough work for every single one of the caddies every day, but we are certainly trying to make sure that we assist them wherever possible.
With this in mind I would like to request that any member wanting to make a cash donation for the caddie work program during this period to please contact me directly to make sure that all donations go toward this initiative.
The HCP issues are still rearing their heads with the new HCP cards being delayed by yet another month from the SAGA. We will not be ordering any more HCP cards until the new ones have arrived. We ask for understanding from members who have been waiting for these cards to arrive and if members want to enter scores then they are more than welcome to call either Pro Shop and request the staff to enter their scores.
A friendly reminder that the operating hours for the DCC Pro Shop is 8am till 4pm during the course revamp period. Anyone wanting to use the Driving range after this time should just arrive and get balls from the range attendant on the day.
See you on the fairways,
Jason
