Mom's Night Off and Story Time

Durban Wine Society Wine Tasting - 8 February

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, why not join us for our Pink Evening! We will start with French Rosé Champagne and compare this with the best of our local Cap Classiques. We will then move on to a line-up of the top South African Rosés and Blanc de Noir wines. Mark O’Flaherty, Cellar Master for the Durban Wine Society, will present the wines and a delicious Canadian Salmon pasta dish will be served afterwards.

Karen Rose Book Launch Breakfast - 1 March

Hi everyone,

Still no rain!! The experts predict some will fall on the weekend so hold thumbs.

The first leg of the Old Mutual pair’s event takes place at DCC on Wednesday, 15 February. This is a very popular event and one that has a superb final prize should the players make it all the way through to the finals. Please book at the DCC Pro Shop to book your time.

Next week at Beachwood it is the monthly Emond Auto Alliance. Ray and his team have supported us for a long time and we are very lucky to have them involved so please support the day by calling the Beachwood Pro Shop and entering your 4ball.

It is that time of year again where we play the annual 6 holes of Night Golf at Beachwood. This is a very popular event and is generally always booked out way beforehand, so please call the Beachwood Pro Shop to book your team in. The date for this event is Friday, 19 February.

As mentioned in previous News Now issues we have been working on our bunkers at DCC over the last few weeks. We are trying to improve on the consistency and to eradicate all of the stones that rise to the surface once they have been rotivated. This is a fairly time consuming process so please bear with us while we work on these hazards.

Congratulations to a previous Club Champion, Lyall McNeil, who over the weekend won the Waterman Gold Cup at DCC with two excellent rounds of 70 and 74 - to get to a winning Nett Total of 144. This is one of our annual Trophy events where we pay tribute to our original course designer, George Waterman. Other notable scores on the day were that of Ryan Birnie and Mohammed Patel, who finished 1 and 2 shots off the pace into second and third with overall Nett Scores of 145 and 146 respectively.

Ladies Golf

Power Family Cup Open - This Trophy event will be played at Beachwood on Sunday, 5 February in the afternoon. The format is Better Ball, any combination. It is the first of our mixed/any combination competitions. The time sheet is at Beachwood, and the competition fee will be R200.00 per person. So, please come and join us in our first mixed competition.

Valentine’s Day Ladies Open - Sponsored by CMH/Lexus. This takes place at Beachwood on Tuesday, 14 February in the morning. The competition fee is R150.00 which includes green fees, competition fee and a light lunch. Please feel free to invite fellow golfers from other clubs, and join us in our Valentine’s Day Competition.
