Tennis

The Durban Country Club offers seven all weather tennis courts which have recently been upgraded to world class standards providing four floodlit courts capable of hosting exclusive tournaments. Interest in tennis at the Club is on the rise with regular members, young and old, making use of our superb facilities. In addition, coaching lessons are available from Roscoes Academy by two dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced coaches. A tennis Pro Shop adjacent to the courts provides all the necessities required for your game including catering.

Bookings & Rates
Members can book a tennis court by contacting the Pro Shop on 031 303 8860 (Mon - Fri: 09h00 - 17h30 Sat: 08h30 - 12h00.). After hours bookings can be made at the Welcome Desk on 031 313 1777.

Courts open at 07h00 and close at 22h00. Last booking time is 21h00.

League Teams

The Club is well represented in the KZN tennis league competitions and for the last three years has been the top club in the province in the Men’s Super League division. DCC has representation in the following league and shield teams:

Super League – Men’s Doubles
A Shield – Men’s singles and doubles
1st Division  - Men over 40
6th Division – Men’s/Junior Doubles
B Shield - Men`s singles and doubles
Junior League – U10, U12, U14 – boys singles and doubles

The tennis section arranges various tennis fixtures throughout the year, these include:

  • Junior/adult tournaments (doubles & singles)
  • Junior Saturday morning social (by invitation)
  • Junior Club Championships
  • Social Tennis (doubles on weekends and mid week evenings)

Social Tennis
There are also Sunday social tennis sessions which take place every Sunday afternoon at the Club’s courts from 14h00. Those interested will be made to feel very welcome by the regular and enthusiastic players who meet at the courts. There is a small charge which covers tea and the afternoon’s tennis.

Coaching
Professional tennis instruction is offered to all ages and levels of play. Whatever your tennis goals, the coaching team made up of Ross Geldenhuys and Greg  Moran will help you achieve them. You can expect quality tennis and service from the enthusiastic team in the tennis section.
The following coaching programme is offered:

  • Individual lessons - adults and juniors are welcome
  • Group coaching - low student ratio (max 6 per group).
  • Squad coaching - Tournament playing juniors, ladies during the week.
  • Training/Hitting partners - Juniors/adults.
  • Clinics/Drill sessions
  • Tournament training program
  • Saturday match play
  • Mini tennis (play + stay (serve, rally, score). Red, Orange, Green tennis balls. (International colour coded balls for the three levels of play).
  • Junior tournaments arranged during the term and in the school holidays

Pro Shop
The Pro Shop is a specialist shop offering personalised attention and a professional service. Our team has in-depth knowledge of the very latest in equipment and offers many years of tennis experience both playing and coaching. Our staff can advise and recommend what equipment you should use for your playing style and skill level. The shop is well stocked to provide tennis enthusiasts with superior products, service, advice and pricing.

Some of the additional services offered are:

  • Racquet stringing – same day service (usually within an hour). The team will also advise on the correct stringing to suit your game.
  • Demo racquets – you are able to demo new racquets
  • Ball machine – the shop has a ball machine which you are able to hire
